Physical Education
Physical Education is for children from Junior Infants to 6th Class. The curriculum contributes to children's overall development by helping them to lead full, active and healthy lives.
The PE curriculum provides a balanced range of activities for children through 6 strands:

Aquatics
2nd - 6th Class pupils are taking part in a 6 week swimming programme with Coral Leisure Monaghan. The children are completing a PAWS (Primary Aquatics Water Safety) programme which outlines the essential life-saving guidelines that every child needs to know, whether they're learning at home or in the classroom. Junior to 2nd Class pupils are learning basic water safety skills in the classroom.

Games - Hurling
Children have been partaking in 6 weeks of hurling with Micheala. They've been developing hurling skills including; travelling, striking, dribbling and passing using a hurley and sliotar.

Gymnastics
Junior to 6th Class pupils completed 6 weeks of gymnastics through LA Gymnastics. Children worked on basic skills including teddy rolls, bear walks, forward rolls, handstands and cartwheels. Week after week confidence, flexibility, core strength and ability has grown.

Dance
Well done to all the students and teachers who prepared and took part in traditional Irish Dancing as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge. The pupils showed their dancing skills and performed the Walls of Limerick, An Dreoilín and The Haka.

GAA Games
Pupils from Juniors to 6th took part in 6 week GAA programme as part of their PE with Makayla. Children developed skills previously learned and enjoyed their weekly training sessions. Well done to all involved! (Jan 24)
SKIPnRope
All children participated in a one day skipping workshop with Mark from SKIPnRope. Children learned the fundamental skills for skipping independently and with a friend. The school purchased new skipping ropes as we have all gone crazy for skipping at playtime! Even some of the teachers got involved! Check out these two skippers....

Mini Athletics
The children from Juniors to 2nd thoroughly enjoyed their 6 week Mini Athletics sessions. Pupils learned the fundamentals of balance and movement. Massive thanks to Francis McFadden and Monaghan sports partnership. (Sep 23)
