Active School Walkway - April 2024
Thanks to our fantastic Active School Committee for setting up and launching our Active School Walkway. Our walkway is a signposted route around the school designed to encourage exercise, mindfulness and learning on the move.

Gymnastics with LA Gymnasts - March 2024
The whole school took part in a 6 week block of gymnastics classes with Lisa, Catriona and Emma from LA Gymnastics. The pupils really enjoyed stretching, rolling, tumbling, balancing, bouncing and cartwheeling. We could see flexibility and agility improving each week. Well done everyone!
Getting Active on Pancake Tuesday - February 2024
We use any excuse to get outside for a movement break. We had pancake flipping relays to celebrate Pancake Tuesday!
Run Around Europe Challenge - Feb 2024
On the 26th of February we kicked off our #RunAroundEurope Challenge. Pupils from Juniors to 6th built a 'run a day' into their daily routine for a 4 week period. Classes worked together to run laps which were then calculated to kilometres. We added these kms together and as a whole school we traveled to some of the major cities in Europe including, London, Paris, Rome and Copenhagen. Children not only ran to different cities but also studied about them too.
Well done to everyone for completing the challenge and running a whopping total of 8,036km.

GAA Coaching with Makayla - Feb 2024
Pupils throughout the school partook in 6 weeks of GAA Coaching with Makayla Greenan. Children practiced moving, dribbing, passing, throwing, catching and kicking techniques. All children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a fun and friendly environment. Thanks Makayla!
Mini Athletics & Volleyball - Sep/Oct 2023
Children from Juniors to 2nd Class enjoyed Mini Athletics while 3rd to 6th took part in Volleyball Coaching. Thanks so much to Francis McFadden and Monaghan Sports Partnership for faciliating this.
Line Leaders - September 2023
As the cold mornings are here the Active School Committee have introduced Active Lines. This gives us the kick start we need to get going in the morning. The Leaders stood at the top of each line and counted out movements, stretches etc. Well done Line Leaders!
Meet Our Active School Committee 2023-2024
Please meet our Active School Committee who have promised to work hard in helping to achieve Active School Flag recognition. An Active School is a school where physical activity is valued, promoted and enjoyed by all.
Volleyball & Mini Athletics
For the month of November the boys are girls from 3rd - 6th Class have completed 4 weeks of volleyball coaching while Juniors to 2nd have completed 4 weeks of mini athletics. Thanks to Francis McFadden and Monaghan Sports Partnership for a great session! We all realy enjoyed learning new skills.
Hurling
Our children have really enjoyed their 6 weeks of hurling with Oísín through Monaghan Sports Partnership. They have developed skills such as striking, lifting, carrying and blocking the sliotar. They have been working hard as a team.

Active Leaders
The pupils in 5th & 6th Class folllow a timetable and are fulfilling their 'Active Leader' duties daily. They supply the junior yard with sports equipment and ensure everyone is being active during big break.

European Week of Sport 2022
Today marks the start of European Week of Sport. This week we will #BeActive in school through sport and play. Research shows that being active makes students healthier and better learners in the classroom. School spirit improves too through fun and inclusion games.
We wish to thank all 6th class pupils for leading our week of sport and we look forward to partaking in the European School Sports Day on Friday 30th. Check out school website and twitter for photos. (Children should wear PE gear Friday).

What a great finish to our lunch time World Cup Competition!
Thursday 26th of November marked the end of our exciting lunch time competition. Every boy and girl from 6th class got stuck in for their qualifying matches.
Games consisted of 8 minutes basketball and 8 minutes soccer per day. Teams worked together, showed great attitude, teamwork and determination.
A massive congratulations to all teams but a special shout out to Team Ireland and Team Switzerland for reaching the final. It was an exciting game that led to extra time. It simply came down to the lunch time bell and a matter of 'next goal wins'!

We had a great day on the 25th of September. The whole school celebrated European School Sports Day. We took part in lots of fun activities! We had fun being active!
