European Week of Sport 2022

Today marks the start of European Week of Sport. This week we will #BeActive in school through sport and play. Research shows that being active makes students healthier and better learners in the classroom. School spirit improves too through fun and inclusion games.

We wish to thank all 6th class pupils for leading our week of sport and we look forward to partaking in the European School Sports Day on Friday 30th. Check out school website and twitter for photos. (Children should wear PE gear Friday).

Check out some photos and videos of the fun and games so far!

What a great finish to our lunch time World Cup Competition!

Thursday 26th of November marked the end of our exciting lunch time competition. Every boy and girl from 6th class got stuck in for their qualifying matches.

Games consisted of 8 minutes basketball and 8 minutes soccer per day. Teams worked together, showed great attitude, teamwork and determination.

A massive congratulations to all teams but a special shout out to Team Ireland and Team Switzerland for reaching the final. It was an exciting game that led to extra time. It simply came down to the lunch time bell and a matter of 'next goal wins'!

Congratulations to Team Switzerland!

It's essential that we stay fit and healthy during the Covid19 restrictions, so lets hope the weather stays on our side!

European School Sports Day in Scoil Mhuire 2020

Plenty of research shows that #BeingActive makes students healthier and better learners in the classroom. School spirit improves too with fun and inclusive team sports.

We had a great day on the 25th of September. The whole school celebrated European School Sports Day. We took part in lots of fun activities! We had fun being active!

Great to see happy faces staying safe, being active and challenging themselves at home!

Well done everyone!

Virtual Sports Week - Challenge 5

Virtual Sports Week - Challenge 2

The 2nd challenge of the week comes from some lovely Latton Lassies.

There must be plenty of dusting going on in this house with the amount of silverware they have gathered between them!

An Ulster All Star, Ulster Champions, County Champions, All Ireland Athletes and not forgetting... a cute little puppy!

Thanks to Katie, Jane and Ferne for setting us a great challenge.

Looking forward to seeing you all try this one!

European School Sports Day 2019

On the 26th of September 2019, the children and staff of Scoil Mhuire celebrated European Sports Day in conjunction with Irish Primary PE and Sport Ireland. During this time, the children completed 120 minutes of physical activity. Children were involved in GAA Coaching, Walking and Talking at the football pitch and fitness stations organised by some of the Active School Students from 5th and 6th Class. Even the teachers got involved! Great fun was had by all!  #ESSD #BeActive
Check out some of the fun we had on our European School Sports Day!
