Active School Flag
We are on a mission to achieve an Active School Flag. We have been working incredibly hard promoting physical activity throughout our school. We have had a lot of fun while encouraging pupils and teachers to become more active, more often! We promote inclusive physical activity throughout the school day. We work closely with different partnerships to help provide our pupils with the best opportunities.
Being Active and Incredible Edibles
MsConwell's pupils have been taking part in the Incredible Edible Programme. They've been learning about the importance of staying fit and healthy as well as eating healthy. Remember food is like fuel for our bodies!

Our Favourite Hobbies
Members of the Active School Committee surveyed all 165 pupils in our class on hobbies and physical activities they partake in outside of school hours. It appears that we have a very busy bunch of boys and girls who are involved in many different sporting areas, including: Gaelic, Soccer, Hurling, Basketball, Gymnastics, Swimming, Martial Arts, Dancing, Athletics and Horse Riding to name a few.
Teachers Are Active Too!
Our teachers here in Scoil Mhuire also know the importance of staying fit and healthy. Check out how they keep fit from the bar chart below. Well done to the Active Committee for collecting and analising this information!
Getting Active on Pancake Tuesday - February 2024
We use any excuse to get outside for a movement break. We had pancake flipping relays to celebrate Pancake Tuesday!
Run Around Europe Challenge - Feb 2024
On the 26th of February we kicked off our #RunAroundEurope Challenge. Pupils from Juniors to 6th built a 'run a day' into their daily routine for a 4 week period. Classes worked together to run laps which were then calculated to kilometres. We added these kms together and as a whole school we traveled to some of the major cities in Europe including, London, Paris, Rome and Copenhagen. Children not only ran to different cities but also studied about them too.
Well done to everyone for completing the challenge and running a whopping total of 8,036km.

Active School Slogan Competition
We recently held an Active School Slogan Competition. Children had to design and present a catchy slogan poster to help promote physical activity. The children from Juniors - 6th came up with some fabulous slogan posters. Well done to all involved. We decided that our Active School Slogan would be:
'Swim, skip, have some fun, this is how the Active School run!'
